NAVIGATING THE OECD WEB SITE

The OECD logo displayed on top left of all of our Web site pages enables you to get back directly to the home page.
Requests for permission to use the OECD logo must be sent to webmaster@oecd.org.

OECD Home
As the OECD logo, clicking on 'Browse OECD Home' enables you to get back directly to the home page.

Browse by Country
This section enables you to get all the OECD documentation pertaining to a specific country. Simply click on the country you are interested in.

Browse by Topic or Directorate
You can navigate throughout the site by Topic. It features 32 topics covering the scope of OECD activities. For those of you who are more familiar with the OECD administrative structure, you can prefer browsing by Department.

Find Publications and Documents
This section provides you with an insight into our key publications and documents.
From there, you could have direct access to the type of documents or publications you are looking for, to our Publishing section as well as to our Advanced Search.
The Online Bookshop and SourceOECD, our online library, are both gateways to our extensive catalogue of books, e-books, CD-Roms, periodicals and statistics.
'Browse our document categories' gives you access to all the OECD documentation grouped by category.

Find Statistics
This heading enables you to find our statistics grouped by topic.

Upper Navigation Bar
When you go deeper into a topic or a department, a contextual upper navigation bar appears in the middle column. This means that the content displayed under 'About', 'Statistics', 'Publications & Documents' and 'Information by Country' will only relate to the topic/department you have chosen.

About
This section enables you to get an introductory presentation on the OECD (if no topic or department has been chosen), or on a particular topic or department. For example, you can quiclky glance at activities in topics such as Biotechnology, Sustainable Development or Education.

Statistics
This heading is suggested in the upper navigation bar of a topic or department. It enables you to access only the statistics related to the topic or department selected.

Publications & Documents
OECD documentation has been sorted into categories of content following the Dublin Core method for searching and indexing Web-based metadata. With this in mind, you can search by document category. This is also contextual so that you will be presented with only documents relative to the topic or department you have chosen.

Information by Country
This heading is suggested in the upper navigation bar of a topic or department. It enables you to access only the information related both to the topic/department and the country selected.

Lower Navigation Bar
The lower navigation bar that you can find on all pages of our Web site refers to generic information about the OECD. 

Right-Hand Column
The right-hand column is divided into two red boxes.
The upper one called 'Don't miss' provides essential information related to the page you are on as 'Contact Us' and 'Site Map'. You will sometimes find working papers or a list of external links. On the main home page of our Web site, you have in particular direct access to the Key Upcoming Events.
The other boxes provide access to the Online Bookshop, recently published titles (Books, CD-Roms, Policy Briefs, etc.), conferences, recent work and more.

Contact Us
A link to this section is available in the red box 'Don't miss' in the right-hand column of the Web site's pages.
If you access this page from the OECD home page, you will find OECD's main contact points as well as information on the 'OECD Centres Around the World'. If you access the 'Contact Us' page of a topic or a department, you will find the contact points for that particular part of the site (generic e-mail address or names and functions of the people responsible).

Search
You can either search the entire site or limit your search to a topic or department. If you click on 'More Search Options', you can restrict your search to a particular format, language, country, group of countries and/or date of publication. This advanced search can also be reached via 'Find Publications & Documents' suggested in the left-hand column of the home page.

MyOECD
You can customize the OECD Web site to suit your interests by creating your own home page with only the information you are interested in. After registering, click on 'MyOECD' on top right of the screen to access your personal home page. For more information, please click on 'E-mail Alerts' under 'Online services' at the bottom of the left-hand column of our home page

Terms and Conditions
To know the OECD Web site's Terms and Conditions, simply click on the corresponding link available at the bottom of each page below the navigation bar.

Privacy Policy
To consult our Privacy Policy and get to the OECD Privacy Policy Statement Generator which generated it, simply click on the corresponding link available at the bottom of each page below the navigation bar.

Member Countries
Are you looking for a list of the OECD 30 member countries and their accession dates?

From the OECD home page, choose to 'Browse by country' in the left-hand column and then click on 'Member Countries' in the middle column and you will get a list of the 30 OECD Member Countries.
For accession dates, see the document entitled 'Ratification of the Convention on the OECD' available in the Legal Affairs section at www.oecd.org/legal/ as a 'Related Document' to the Convention suggested in the left-hand column.

Accession Process
How does a country become a member of the OECD?

Please see the document entitled 'Becoming a Member of the OECD: the Accession Process'. It is featured in our Legal Affairs section which you can access by clicking on OECD Departments. Then select the heading 'OECD Legal Instruments and Related Documents' after clicking on 'Publications & Documents' in the upper navigation bar.

OECD Funding
How is the OECD funded?

The OECD is funded by its member countries. National contributions to the annual budget are based on a formula related to the size of each member's economy. The largest contributor is the United States, which provides 25% of the budget, followed by Japan. With the approval of the Council, countries may also make separate contributions to particular programmes or projects.
The size of the annual budget, currently about US$200 million per year, as well as the programme of work to be undertaken, is decided by member countries in the Council .

Are you looking for statistics to carry out a market research?

Even if the OECD produces numerous statistics, a chamber of commerce and industry is a better place for requesting this type of information. You may nevertheless find useful information under 'International Trade Statistics' at www.oecd.org/std/its/. Please keep also in mind that the Statistics Department can answer questions about OECD statistics and help you locate data online but it cannot provide you with specific data. Free online statistics can be accessed at www.oecd.org/statistics/data/. The Frequently Asked Statistical Tables (FAST) will give you an overview of the main economic indicators for OECD member countries.

The OECD Macrothesaurus
Are you looking for the OECD Macrothesaurus?

We regret to inform you that this collection was interrupted in 1998. The last and fifth edition of the 'Macrothesaurus for Information Processing in the Field of Economic and Social Development' is available at the Online Bookshop or at La Documentation française located at 29, quai Voltaire - 75007 Paris, metro station: Rue du Bac, RER station: Musée d'Orsay.
